After my first ballet-free summer in twenty-two years, I have just finished my very first week of work without ballet, running my wealth management firm, Wing Patrimoine.
To be honest, I felt a little pressure during the summer, thinking about all the work and the clients waiting for me, and about all the projects I want to carry out in my new life: the book I have been wanting to write about my Grandma, and the association I would like to build, Elido. In the end, I told myself that among all these ambitions, only my wealth management firm truly matters for now, and that only the Wing Patrimoine deadlines count. That is how I started my new life this past week, focusing on my firm.
It turns out it went pretty well! I decided to have a dynamic and good start. A huge change of life and routine like this also feels like the best occasion to adopt new habits: I switch off my phone from 9:30pm every evening and keep it far away from my bed. With a book or a documentary, I let myself fall asleep whenever my body calls for it. I wake up naturally, often very early in the morning, and the first thing I do out of bed is at least ten minutes of morning yoga. Then a short walk outside, time to enjoy a good breakfast, and I slowly settle down in front of my computer the moment my hot Earl Grey tea or freshly ground coffee is ready.
I am happy with this new lifestyle. And in a week’s time, looking back at how much has moved forward among the waiting clients and dossiers, I feel relieved and reassured. My new life feels good, and everything seems to be okay. I think I will be able to survive with Wing Patrimoine alone, and that is exactly what I was worried about!
Thinking back to the past four or five years, when I combined my full-time ballet career at the Paris Opera Ballet with my wealth management activity, my schedule was pretty hectic: every free moment, mornings before class, lunch breaks, evenings after the Opera, was dedicated to wealth management or my academic studies. This week, for the first time in a very long time, I tasted free evenings, and even a Wednesday afternoon! On Wednesday, after an intense session of analytical work, a friend suggested afternoon tea and a quick tour of the Louvre. Enjoying a good cup of tea and admiring beautiful artworks at the Louvre on a Wednesday afternoon was simply unimaginable in my past life. And I could walk for hours without worrying that it would tire my legs and make me dance less well the next day!
Free evenings, the occasional free Wednesday afternoon, but also free weekends! Yesterday, Saturday, I returned to my beloved Jardin des Plantes. I love being the first one there when the park opens at 7:30am, when there is nobody around, and having the feeling of saying good morning to all the plants and beautiful flowers. …So everything is good so far. I feel very grateful, and I hope the next few weeks will be as good!
And another exciting piece of news: the new campaign Beyond Borders by Etihad Airways is out! It features five real-life stories about how a flight changed someone’s life, and I am one of them!
You can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kk2Yp_q6k4
My own story also has its own video on their website here (scroll down to the part where each of the five stories is featured individually): https://www.etihad.com/fr-fr/beyond-borders
I feel very proud and grateful for this too!
Bonne rentrée to all of you!
