Chun-Wing Lam is the first and only Chinese to join the Paris Opera Ballet, the oldest and one of the most prestigious ballet institutions in the world.
First Chinese dancer to join the Paris Opera Ballet
Born in Hong Kong, Chun-Wing started ballet when he was seven. His strong passion for dancing gave him the courage to leave his family at 14 years old to receive full-time training in Paris. He is now a permanent member of the Paris Opera Ballet.
He completed Royal Academy of Dance’s Advanced 2 level with distinction in Hong Kong and received ballet training at the Paris Opera Ballet School, Guangzhou National School of Dance and the Royal Ballet School.
Throughout his dancing career, apart from numerous classical ballets, he worked with some of today’s most respected contemporary choreographers like William Forsythe, Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker, Paul Lightfoot, Crystal Pite and many others.
In addition, Chun-Wing is the first Hong Kong prize-winner at the world-renowned Varna International Ballet Competition and a 7-times gold medalist at Hong Kong Ballet Group’s Youth Ballet Stars Award.
