Holiday in Strasbourg with my family

After 18 performances of Sylvia and around 20 tax declarations completed for my clients, this trip to Strasbourg with my family feels especially rewarding.

The last time I visited Strasbourg was 14 years ago, with my host family. I still remember discovering the city for the first time—its charming half-timbered houses surrounded by golden autumn leaves.

The weather hasn’t been ideal this time—chilly with a bit of rain. After checking off the main tourist attractions, including the awe-inspiring Cathedral and the picturesque Petite-France district, we mostly stayed indoors. One highlight was dining at Chez Yvonne, a traditional Alsatian restaurant serving local dishes like choucroute. With over 150 years of history, it has hosted many notable figures, including Jacques Chirac.

At the History Museum, we learned a great deal about Strasbourg’s past, especially its turbulent periods between France and Germany, given its location at the frontier. It’s fascinating to see how this city has evolved into a symbol of peace and unity as the capital of Europe, home to the European Parliament and other key institutions.

Yesterday, we climbed to the top of the Cathedral and enjoyed a breathtaking view of the entire city.

I can’t believe both tax season and Sylvia are over—two major challenges completed! Next up is Sleeping Beauty to close out the season at the Paris Opera. Meanwhile, at my firm PerformanceS, I’ll be focusing on resolving all the outstanding requests from my clients.

I haven’t finalized my summer plans yet, but I’ll likely return to Hong Kong at some point to perform. And meanwhile, I shall take good care of myself.

Regarding the personal challenge I mentioned in my recent posts—to take some distance from social media—I think I’ve succeeded! Over the past few months, I’ve significantly reduced the time I spend on Instagram and Facebook. Instead, I’ve been trying to read and write more.

Whenever I return to Instagram for a specific reason, I’m much more aware of its effects on me.

That said, I still wish I read more regularly—this is something I’d like to focus on in the coming months.
