This week, I completed my second and final performance of Nureyev’s Bluebird pas de deux — and I think it went a bit better than the first one! Right after a performance, I never quite know how it went until I hear back from the ballet masters, friends, colleagues, and see any videos that might come my way. The feedback I received for this second show was quite positive, which makes me very happy — and relieved!
One of the ballet masters from the Opéra even gave me some corrections for the “next series”… Oh yes, because after this run that we’re wrapping up this month, we’ll be doing Sleeping Beauty again at the end of the season, around June/July. So it seems I might be dancing the Bluebird pas de deux again in that second series before our summer break…
Finishing Bluebird is honestly a huge relief — it’s such a demanding role, and it has taken up probably 80% of my mental space and energy. Now, I can finally start focusing on what’s next.
At the moment, we’re working with Manuel Legris’ team on his version of Sylvia, which we’ll be performing at Palais Garnier starting in early May. I’m also rehearsing another solo role called Un Faune, which is somewhat similar to the role of Zaël in Jean-Guillaume Bart’s La Source. There’s even a variation in Act 2 that uses the same music as Zaël’s variation — the one that helped me get promoted twice during the Paris Opera’s Concours de Promotion! This kind of role feels right for me, and I really enjoy it. There’s still time before the premiere, and I really hope I’ll get a few performances. The team we’re working with is great — it’s a real pleasure to work alongside such kind and professional people.
Meanwhile, tax season has officially started in France. I think I have just a few more income tax declarations to do for my clients this year compared to last. I used to wonder why French accountants and advisors dreaded this period so much — I thought it was good for business! But now, I’m starting to understand why it’s such a challenge… In the coming weeks, I’ll try to dedicate a bit more time to my clients and to PerformanceS. There are also some exciting projects coming up, which I’m really looking forward to.
That said, spring has truly arrived in Paris over the past couple of weeks — the trees are green and full of life again, flowers are blooming, the sun is warm, and the air is fresh and crisp. I feel grateful to have made it through most of the big challenges of early 2025. So now, I think I’ll take a short break — and simply take the time to feel grateful.
